Поступления за период или другие формы повышения стоимости активов хозяйственной единицы или изменение состояния ее обязательств (или комбинации того и другого) от поставки или производства продукции, предоставления услуг или других операций, являющихся основной деятельностью хозяйственной единицы.
Согласно ПБУ 9/99, доход - это увеличение экономических выгод в результате поступления активов (денежных средств, иного имущества), погашения обязательств, приводящее к увеличению капитала этой организации, за исключением вкладов участников (собственников имущества).

Средства в денежной или натуральной форме, получаемые экономическими субъектами (отдельным лицом, семьей, кооперативом, фирмой, государством и т.д.) в результате их экономической деятельности. Оцениваются за определенный период, обычно за год. Реальные располагаемые доходы — доходы населения за вычетом обязательных платежей, скорректированные на индекс потребительских цен. При анализе экономики фирм различаются доходы: на активы, на долю собственности (return on equity), Д. от основной деятельности фирмы (operating income). Совокупный доход R, получаемый фирмой, равен цене ее продукта, умноженной на количество единиц продукта: R(Q) = PQ. Предельный доход MR — приращение DR(Q) в результате увеличения выпуска продукции на единицу. Средний доход AR, получаемый от продажи единицы продукта — цена единицы продукции Соотношения этих величин показывают таблица [1] и график Д.5, построенный на ее основе. О доходах государства — см. Доходы будущих периодов (Deferrred income) - доходы, начисленные в отчетном периоде, но относящиеся к будущим отчетным периодам (напр., полученная вперед абонентная плата). В бухгалтерской отчетности Д.б.п. отражаются отдельной статьей. Доходы бюджета (государственного, регионального) (Budget revenues) - часть централизованных финансовых ресурсов государства, необходимых для выполнения его функций. Преобладающую часть Д.б. составляют налоги. Доходы от инвестиций с учетом налогов(Franked investment income) - суммарная величина полученных дивидендов плюс связанная с ними налоговая льгота (см. Налоговый выигрыш от амортизации). Доходы от прочей деятельности (Other activities income, OI) - доходы компании (предприятия) от участия в других организациях, внереализационные доходы и т.п. Доходы от собственности - обобщающее понятие, учитывающее способность собственности (богатства, активов) приносить экономические выгоды, в том числе денежные доходы. Доходы от собственности, в частности, находят выражение в дивидендах акционера, депозитных процентах вкладчика банка, ссудном проценте кредитора и т.д. От предпринимательского дохода Д.о.с. отличаются тем, что они приходят независимо от усилий собственника, его талантов – потому и говорят о свойстве «самовозрастания» богатства в различных его формах.
